Geological and literary stroll through the
landscape heritage of Digne-les-Bains.

The Haute-Provence Geopark and the
Réserve naturelle nationale géologique de Haute-Provence invite you to
hike to the Saint-Pancrace chapel to
share geologists’ insights into the stones,
thermal waters and landscape history of Digne. Throughout
this journey back in time, discover Provençal geological tales
and current research
on the Reserve’s territory. You will be accompanied
by Myette Guiomar, geologist at the Réserve Naturelle
Nationale Géologique de Haute-Provence, and Jean-
Claude Hippolyte geologist researcher at CEREGE (Centre
de recherche et d’enseignement des géosciences de
l’environnement).
Group limited to 20 people, free of charge
Meeting point: Col des Abeilles (900 m after the Thermes
in Digne) at 1:30 p.m., return expected around 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday May 20th
Animated conference “Introduction to reading geological maps
” and collective creation of the puzzle of the
geological map of France.

A useful tool for the geologist, the geological map can turn out to be
very enigmatic… A fun way to tame it
is to create the puzzle! The Geopark invites you to a
animated conference on the subject at the François
Mitterrand media library in Digne-les-Bains. A very special puzzle, published
by BRGM (Bureau de Recherche Géologique et Minière),
will also be available throughout
May. Let’s put the pieces of the geological puzzle together!
