Since 2018, the administrative management of the UNESCO Haute-Provence Global Geopark has been the responsibility of Provence Alpes Agglomération, which has signed an Entente Intercommunale with the Communauté de Communes du Sisteronais-Buëch, with the Geopark’s perimeter extending across both intercommunalities.

An Intercommunal Agreement

On October 26, 2018, Patricia GRANET-BRUNELLO, President of Provence Alpes Agglomération and Daniel SPAGNOU, President of Communauté de Communes du Sisteronais-Buëch, signed an Entente Intercommunale agreement linking the two local authorities to ensure the management, development and promotion of the Haute-Provence World Geopark.

In terms of both investment and operation, the Entente Intercommunale will optimize the management and development of the Geopark, by promoting coherence between actions and facilitating the administrative management of operations on a regional scale.

As leader and sole contracting authority, Provence Alpes Agglomération is responsible for the administrative, technical and financial management of the various projects. The Sisteronais-Buëch Community of Communes is involved in the governance and contributes financially to the Geopark’s actions. It participates in the Conférence d’Entente intercommunale, chaired by Bernard TEYSSIER.
