Key Partners

The Haute-Provence UNESCO Global Geopark develops and relies on a network of leading local partners: the Geological Nature Reserve of Haute Provence, the CAIRN Art Centre, as well as the territory's Tourism stakeholders, in particular the Tourist Offices. All these key partners play an important role in the identity and development of the their local areas as well as the overall territory of the Haute-Provence UNESCO Global Geopark. This process of partnership is also essential for the long-term strategic mutual success and sustainability of the Geopark and all its initiatives with local partners and stakeholders.

The National Geological Nature Reserve Of Haute-Provence

The #4National Geological Nature Reserve of Haute-Provence was created in 1984 with the mission of conserving the geological heritage of the area. It operates and manages18 sites covering a total of 269 hectares, in a nature reserve protected zone which extends in to the counties of Alpes de Haute-Provence and Var. Since 2014, the Geological Nature Reserve has been managed by the Alpes de Haute-Provence County Council.

The CAIRN Art Centre

#5CAIRN Art Centre is a creative and research laboratory linking contemporary art to the territory. Its objective is to encourage artistic creation in rural areas. Since its creation in 2000, the CAIRN Art Centre has commissioned and helped to create an #6original collection of artworks dotted throughout the UNESCO Geopark territory. The result of artists residencies in Digne-les-Bains, this collection is the expression of an artistic research unique in its kind on an international scale: a real distinctive characteristic of the Haute-Provence UNESCO Global Geopark. The CAIRN Art Centre has an Exhibition Gallery in the Promenade Museum. The CAIRN Art Centre is a department managed by the Municipal Town Council of Digne-les-Bains.

Tourist Offices

There are four Tourist Offices in the Haute-Provence UNESCO Global Geopark: Provence Alpes Tourism Board have #8public Tourist Offices in Digne-les-Bains, #9La Motte du Caire, #10Sisteron and #11Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. The staff and teams in these Tourist Offices are the first on-the-ground point-of-contact for the general public, to advise and to taylor-make your indiviidual break according to your wishes and preferences. The Digne-les-Bains Tourist Office offers #12Mountain Trail-Running "Discovery Breaks & Packages" in the Haute-Provence UNESCO Global Geopark.
