After a fortnight’s work, the project is nearing completion for the creation of a panoramic viewpoint at the summit of the Rocher de Neuf Heures, as well as a rest and interpretation terrace halfway along the access path.

Given the site’s difficult access, all materials were transported by helicopter.

Among the items transported: a life-size chamois silhouette, and above all, a 2.5-metre metal “Étoile de Saint-Vincent”, created for the 1954 Corso by Camille Roux and donated by his son Emmanuel.

Perched on a rocky peak, this star reinforces the symbolic dimension of the site by connecting it to the Geopark’s heritage.

By February, interpretive desks will complete the layout, shedding new light on the surrounding landscapes, natural environments and peaks.

Costing €35,460 excluding VAT, the project is being carried out by Provence Alpes Agglomération, with 80% funding from the French government and the Sud PACA region as part of the Espace Valléen program.

It is part of a wider program to develop emblematic sites in the Haute-Provence Geopark.

The work was carried out by Eiffage Castellane.
