Biodiversity in the Haute-Provence UNESCO Global Geopark

The Meadow Viper

This small viper, which feeds exclusively on orthopterans (grasshoppers), is only found in four counties in the south-east of France: Alpes de Haute-Provence, Alpes Maritimes, Var and Vaucluse.

As it is highly endangered, it is strictly protected by French law and international conventions.
