Departing from Digne-les-Bains, this tour takes you to the heart of the Asse valley and its hilly landscapes, olive groves and lavender fields, returning via the Col d’Espinouse and its magnificent panorama.
This itinerary is part of the northern section of the Route des Galets of the Haute-Provence Geopark. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the Provencal atmosphere of typical villages such as Mézel, Estoublon and Bras d’Asse. After an easy start, the route first crosses the hills to reach the Asse valley, where you can admire the river’s “braided” profile. From here, a pleasant little road takes you up to the Col d’Espinouse. Don’t hesitate to take a break in the shade of the Pierre d’Arc oak, classified as a remarkable tree, and enjoy the panoramic view as you reach the pass. You’ll be able to admire the Bléone valley and a superb view of the surrounding mountains. On the way down, keep your concentration as you tackle the hairpin bends that will take you back to Le Chaffaut and then Digne-les-Bains.
