Overlooking the Bléone valley (830 m.), Vieil-Aiglun and its church of Sainte-Madeleine are a haven of peace, offering one of the finest panoramas in the Haute-Provence Geopark.
From this old village, which has been reborn a few years ago, you can observe the relief of the Dignois Pre-Alps, from the Estrop summit to the Valensole plateau, via the Barre des Dourbes, the Cousson and many others.
Although the site was probably occupied as early as Neolithic times, the village took shape in feudal times, with its castle and rampart. The church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine was built on the ruins of an earlier religious edifice above the village. Highly affected by the rural exodus and abandoned, the site has now been partially restored, with charm. Its church hosts numerous cultural events.
It can be reached by road, but also by a path which, starting from Avenue Jouve, will also take you to Le Puy, the highest point in the commune, via the Saint-Jean site.
