From Champtercier, under the blue skies of Haute-Provence, observe the mountains of Digny, as the famous scientist Gassendi once did, to fill up on serenity…
These lands are the cradle of the Haute-Provence Geopark, whose landscapes tell the story of 300 million years of history. From Champtercier, along the Bléone to the Pic d’Oise pyramid, where the site of the old village nestles, you can make out Tertiary Era terrain that hasn’t moved since it was formed. They are made up of orange-tinged sandstone and pudding. Opposite, the mighty Barre des Dourbes, Pic de Couard and Cousson, on the other hand, have been displaced; they are composed of limestone and marl from the Secondary Era within the Digne nappe.
Women and men gradually settled and Digne, initially nestled at the confluence of three valleys, later stretched along the Bléone.
