The Saint-Michel hill, between Bléone and Mardaric, is one of the interpretation sites of the Haute-Provence Geopark. It offers a panoramic view of the Bléone valley.
The Bléone, which flows through the Geopark, is 67 km long, from the Estrop massif to its confluence with the Durance. Undeveloped in this area, it unfurls its beautiful braided profile. Here you can see the middle valley, dominated by the Liman ridge to the west, with its wide pebble bed revealing its torrential flow. The succession of terraces resulting from different glacial episodes is clearly visible, with three levels separated by pine woods.
Below the village at the foot of the slope, you’ll see the Marcoux commune’s agricultural estate, extended to the north by that of Brusquet. This vast plain is crossed by the Bouinenc torrent. This farmland has probably been cultivated since Antiquity and even before the Roman conquest. Numerous Gallo-Roman remains have been discovered on the Saint-Martin estate.
