A true journey through time and space, this discovery route of the Haute-Provence Geopark will introduce you to an astonishing territory that combines past, present and future.
From the clue carved out by the Durance at Sisteron, the Route du Temps climbs to Saint-Geniez. In the heart of the Monges massif, you then cross Authon and plunge into the cool shade of the Fontbelle forest. After the village of Thoard, the road winds through the Duyes valley, passing through the village where the philosopher Gassendi was born. It then follows the course of the Bléone and joins the Durance.
You’ll discover a double memory: that of the Earth, with its complex geological history, and that of men and women. As you pass through incredible landscapes, you’ll discover towns and villages, legends such as that of the Pénitents des Mées, remarkable heritage sites, as well as biodiversity and history hotspots, not to mention works of contemporary art. Enough to make you lose track of time!
