Geopark fossil exhibition
Enjoy an illustration of the last 300 million years of our region’s history through an exhibition of several hundred fossils. The complete cast of the ichthyosaur skeleton (one of the most complete in Europe!) found just a few kilometers from the Promenade Museum, is one of the highlights. Its life-size, 3D reconstruction evokes the presence of predators and the intense life that existed in the seas of the Secondary Era (or Mesozoic).
Immersive exhibition in the Geopark's
landscapes
This exhibition offers an immersion into the emblematic landscapes that shape and mark the Geopark territory. An introductory room presents a selection of twenty sites representative of the region’s landscape diversity, including an interactive terminal for navigating the landscape observatory of the Vallée des Duyes et de la Bléone. The exhibition continues with an immersive room featuring 360-degree videos of these landscapes projected onto 4 walls.
Haute-Provence butterflies exhibition
Our open-air butterfly garden boasts almost 130 species that can be observed throughout the seasons.
An exhibition dedicated to the butterflies of Haute-Provence welcomes you to the second floor of the Maison des Remparts. It’s an opportunity to complete your fascinating discovery of these insects, as an extension to your visit to the Butterfly Garden, installed in the museum grounds in the early 2000s. Exhibition produced in partnership with the Proserpine association.
Retrospective: 40 years of the Promenade Museum and Geological Reserve
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Musée-Promenade and the Réserve Géologique de Haute-Provence, as well as the 20th anniversary of UNESCO’s Global Geoparks Network, we are offering a retrospective of the major events that have marked the history of the Musée-Promenade and the Réserve Géologique de Haute Provence since their creation in 1984. Old posters, photos, objects, publications, newspaper cuttings and archive videos are on display as you stroll through the museum.
Embark on a journey through time in the Cosmonite spaceship
The Cosmonites, ammonites’ imaginary cousins, invite you on a journey through time. In their spaceship of time, they tell you how humans have interpreted ammonites through the ages, in line with the evolution of science: ammonites, the emblematic fossils of the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence.
Natural hazards
A better understanding of the natural hazards that surround us means we can better cope with them. Discover the volcanoes of the Global Geoparks and the earthquakes that occur in our region to learn more and adopt the right behavior.
