This is the first of the Land-Art renovations and installations in our territory, created by Andy Goldsworthy in 2002. A piece of Land-Art artwork offering an artistic refuge of peace and sanctuary existing in and respecting the natural surrounding area.  "The cave will be a space where people can stand, a place where others have stood before them, where others will stand after. Each visitor will reinforce this human presence. The experience of the cave will provide an absolute contrast to the open mountains" (Andy Goldsworthy).

The chapel was built in 1657. It is dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene, patron saint of Provence. Many mountain-crossing points have been placed under her protection; we are here not far from the mountain-pass that allows you to go from Thoard to La Robine.
